We cry out for the city of Louisville, dismayed, hurt, and angered by unjust and racist systems and structures.As a seminary committed to confronting white supremacy and working for racial justice, we unequivocally proclaim that Black lives matter. Not only do Black lives matter, Black lives are sacred.

Even as we lament, we are ever committed to act justly, love mercy, and walk in God’s loving kindness. And we fervently pray as an educational community that the prophetic Spirit of God aspires our imagination for a new belonging grounded in resistant hope and the restorative work of reparations.

Amanda Standiford Assumes New Role at First Baptist Frankfort

Baptist Seminary of Kentucky congratulates Rev. Amanda Standiford on her new role as Associate Pastor of Children & Spiritual Formation at First Baptist Church, Frankfort. Amanda joined the FBC staff on August 24, 2020, and is a 2014 graduate of BSK.

Rev. Brittany Stillwell

To know Brittany is to respect her as a minister and love her as a person. We are as thrilled to have her on our pastoral staff as BSK is to claim her as a leading alumnus. After completing a self-study process and site visit in early 2020, the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky (BSK) has been reaccredited for 10 years by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS).

The reaffirmation decision from the ATS Board of Commissioners noted several “distinctive strengths” in BSK’s approach:

a. The vocational commitment of faculty, staff, and administrators to one another and to the missional values of the school, as well as the pedagogical creativity of the faculty who generate a resilient and life-affirming formative experience for students and the publics they serve.
b. The collaborative and mutually enhancing relationship between BSK, Simmons College, and the National Baptist Convention of America International, Inc… generates an efficacious grace that increases hope and commitment among diverse racial and ethnic communities.
c. The transformative leadership capacities of students and alumni who exercise their call to serve in diverse ministerial roles and intersectional contexts for the betterment of the church and the world.
d. The creative and elegant simplicity of the school’s degree program rubric which integrates the intellectual, practical, and spiritual elements of formation.

The ATS affirmation also provided approval for BSK to provide “comprehensive distance education” for the M.Div. program. A refreshed 75 hour M.Div. curriculum was announced in early 2020 and begins with the Fall 2020 semester.
