Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care Program
The Pastoral Care program provides advanced theological and ministry studies for women and men who are preparing for life and ministry in settings where knowledge and skill are required for compassionate care, deep engagement in pain and joy, and broad service to those who are suffering or experiencing trauma.
We have a vision for skilled care and counsel during life’s most difficult moments … God made known by loving presence (Psalm 23, Matthew 25:31-46, John 14:34-35).
Advanced theological education and ministry formation with a pastoral care focus prepares clergy and laity for effective ministries in congregations, institutions (hospitals, prisons, military, colleges, work places as examples), and formal counseling centers. While some ministry settings will require professional certifications beyond a degree, others will welcome those with BSK-based advanced preparation to serve congregations and communities.
Pastoral Care Certificate
BSK appreciates the fact that not all who desire deeper knowledge and skill desire to pursue a graduate degree or can leave their local setting. The three-course Pastoral Care Certificate provides core knowledge and basic skill formation in order to serve those in crisis more competently. Pastors, lay leaders, and volunteer visitors in hospitals, nursing homes, and other institutions will find their ministries deepened and broadened through earning this certificate. Credits earned through this certificate can also be applied toward a M.Div. at BSK.
