Director of Institutional Design
Dr. David S. Adams focuses primarily on instructional design, supporting faculty and students through BSK’s distance education efforts. He also oversees grant writing and assists in managing information technology systems at the school while teaching courses in administration, leadership, and communications.
Offering a strong background in publishing, Dr. Adams directs the Flourish Center at BSK, providing resourcing supporting thriving congregations. In addition to editing Faithelement Bible study resources, he has worked with Group Publishing, Judson Press, Smyth & Helwys Publishing.
David serves as the Pastor of Living Faith Church in Hebron, Kentucky. He and his wife Patty live in Northern Kentucky with their daughter Rebecca.
Siloam Project Director
Dr. Everett provides leadership to the Siloam Project, funded by a nearly $1 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., that was created to accelerate the seminary’s congregation-centered approach to theological education.
Everett, a native of Washington, D.C. and an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, earned his undergraduate degree and his first theological degree from schools in Dallas, Texas. He holds the B.S. degree in organizational management magna cum laude from Paul Quinn College and the M.Div. degree with urban ministry certification from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. He received the D.Min. degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.
Registrar and Academic Coordinator
Mark joined the staff of BSK in the summer of 2022, having previously served as an Interim Pastor and as a Professor of Philosophy and Religion. He has a B.A. in English, Philosophy, and Religion from Georgetown College, an M.A. and Ph.D. from Rice University, and an M.Div. with Concentration in Rural Ministry from BSK. Having lived in Texas, Oklahoma, and Singapore, Mark is glad to now reside on a small farm in his native Lexington, Kentucky, with his spouse, Lucy, and their son, Canaan.
Director of Library Services
Ryan is husband of Elise and father of Walter. He became the inaugural librarian for the seminary in the spring of 2014 and is also an adjunct instructor of Theological Research. He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with an MSLS, the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church with an S.T.M. in Christian Spirituality, Princeton Theological Seminary with an M.Div., and Willamette University with a B.A. in Religious Studies. Ryan is ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and also serves as and adjunct instructor for the School of Information Studies at the University of Kentucky.
Director of Admissions
Abby (Shelton) Sizemore is a native of Owensboro, Kentucky and a 2013 graduate of Georgetown College. After graduating from Georgetown College with a degree in Religion, Abby moved to Atlanta, GA with her husband, Justin. While living in Atlanta, she worked as a Collegiate Relations Coordinator at the Phi Mu Fraternity National Headquarters and then as Communications Coordinator at Smoke Rise Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, GA. Since returning to Kentucky, Abby was on staff at Georgetown College as an Admission Counselor before coming on staff at BSK in the summer of 2017. Abby and Justin live in Lexington with their two daughters, Ann-Thomas and Edie, and their dog, Rosie.
Assistant to the President
Ashley Morris was born and raised in Lexington, KY where she lives with her husband, Dusty and her two children, Zoey and Zack. She previously studied Journalism at the University of Kentucky and worked for Fayette County Public Schools for 12 years as an administrative assistant in various departments. Ashley is very happy to be a part of the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky family.
Associate Director, Institute for Black Church Studies
Erica Whitaker is pastor, preacher, writer and scholar. She has been serving Baptist congregations for over fifteen years. She recently served as Senior Pastor to Buechel Park Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. She is a member of Baptist News Global’s Board of Directors and serves on Kentucky Baptist Women in Ministry’s Advisory Council.
A Texas native, Whitaker holds an undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas and a Master of Divinity degree from Baylor University’s George W. Truett Seminary. She is writing a dissertation for a Doctor of Philosophy degree at International Baptist Theological Study Centre in Amsterdam.
