Everett appointed as BSK’s Chief Advancement and Partnership Officer

LEXINGTON, KY — BSK Theological Seminary has appointed Rev. Dr. D. Anthony Everett as its new Chief Advancement and Partnership Officer. In this role, Dr. Everett will oversee fundraising initiatives, lead project programming, and provide strategic leadership as Interim Executive Director of the Institute for Black Church Studies.

“As partnerships have grown in significance for BSK and for the Institute for Black Church Studies, it is key to have a voice in our executive leadership team helping us be great partners,” said BSK President, Dr. David Cassady. “In addition to his development expertise, Dr. Everett brings years of rich experience working with multiple types of organizations. I’m excited to see the ways Anthony will enrich our collaborative work as a growing seminary.”

With more than two decades of leading nonprofit advancement, corporate teams, and cross-sector partnerships, Dr. Everett brings a record of revenue growth, grant strategy, and data-informed fundraising to this role. He supported the development of a multi-year, $7 million Lilly Endowment commitment and directs BSK’s Siloam Project—nearly a $1 million initiative—while managing donor CRM systems and KPI dashboards. A seasoned public communicator and equity-centered leader, he cultivated partnerships that align with BSK’s Institute for Black Church Studies, Siloam, and Tending programming priorities.  Dr. Everett led several justice‑centered congregations and served as executive director of Mission Behind Bars and Beyond (a faith-based nonprofit), forging community partnerships and advocacy.  An ordained elder in the United Methodist Church with standing in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), his vocational focus is inspired by ecumenism, social justice, and prophetic activism. He earned a B.S. in Organizational Management (Paul Quinn College), an M.Div. (The Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University), and a D.Min. in Prophetic Preaching and Praxis (United Theological Seminary).

“I am deeply grateful to serve BSK Theological Seminary as Chief Advancement and Partnership Officer,” said Dr. Everett. “It is an honor to serve alongside President David Cassady, our faculty and staff, and the entire BSK community— lifting up students, churches, and partners as we tell the story of BSK’s transformative mission. With humility and hope, I look forward to building relationships that expand opportunity, strengthen the Institute for Black Church Studies, and grow the resources that help our communities flourish.
