We are glad to welcome Dr. Cláudio Carvalhaes, Associate Professor of Worship, Union Theological Seminary (New York City), who will be preaching in BSK’s virtual Chapel service on Wednesday, April 6, at 10 AM, EST. This semester students in the “Worship” and “Liturgy and Social Ethics” classes at BSK have read and engaged Dr. Carvalhaes’ scholarship.
Dr. Carvalhaes is the author of many books including, Praying with Every Heart: Orienting Our Lives to the Wholeness of the World. This book “helps create language to pray with people and in situations we are not used to praying with; it insists on praying amidst racism, poverty, violence, and suffering; it calls us to pray at night and at the end of the world when we are overcome by fear, hurt, climate disaster, or economic impoverishment…”
