BSK president, David Cassady, was a speaker at the second graduation service for the Zomi Christian Theological Seminary, held during the annual gathering for the Zomi Baptist Churches of America in Atlanta, on July 29, 2023.
During the event, Dr. Cassady was also presented with a traditional Zomi sash and a Global Christian Leadership Award. Over the past year, BSK has been invited into partnership with the Zomi seminary and is actively exploring ways such a partnership might further develop.
“We have been blessed through our growing friendship with Dr. Pau Khai and the congregations of the Zomi Baptist Churches of America,” Dr. Cassady explained. “BSK is enriched by the faith and perspectives of this rich tradition.”
The Zomi are ethnic minority group of people, originally from Myanmar (previously called Burma) and North East India. Over the last 20 years, many Zomi have immigrated to the United States, forming communities and congregations in multiple US cities. The Zomi Baptist Churches of America was formed 11 years ago, starting with 5 churches. Today, the fast-growing denomination has grown to nearly 50 churches. The ZBCA is also an active participant in the Baptist World Alliance.
