BSK begins another semester with record breaking enrollment

As BSK kicks off a new semester, the Seminary also celebrates yet another record breaking enrollment! BSK’s enrollment has continually increased since 2017. In 2023, BSK was listed in the top 10 fastest growing theological schools by the Association of Theological Schools. This semester, over 60 students are enrolled in degree or certificate seeking programs, and a head count (including auditors) of close to 70 students will log on for their classes from over 20 different states across the nation.

“It is exciting to see so many persons following a call to some form of ministry. BSK’s commitment to racial justice and contextual ministry helps us provide relevant theological education that is attracting leaders to learn with us,” says BSK’s President, Dr. David Cassady.

Historically, BSK only offered an in-person Master of Divinity degree. However, students are now enrolled in 6 different graduate certificate programs, the new Master of Arts in Ministry Studies program, and the Master of Divinity program. These varied and accessible options are striking a chord with what BSK calls “homegrown ministers” who are already working in ministry and seek theological education from where they live and serve.

Dr. Mark Medley, BSK’s Academic Dean, says, “Record enrollment is exciting! It testifies to how BSK’s commitments to racial and social justice, which shape the diversity of our degree and certificate programs, speak to the heart, mind, and imagination of persons discerning God’s call to ministry. I’m delighted to welcome our new students to our vibrant community of theological learning.”
