Trauma causes heightened anxiety, intense distress, numbing pain, profound suffering, deep depression, cognitive dissonance, relational fracturing, and unspeakable loss and grief. Drawing on pastoral care and theological resources, this interdisciplinary course addresses personal, family, faith, social, and cultural trauma. Attention will be given to how persons, churches, and communities can mobilize resources of intelligence, faith, and imagination by responding to trauma in healing, sustaining, guiding, and restorative practices.
