Statement on Charlottesville

In response to the events in Charlottesville this past Saturday, BSK affirms these words from our Associate Professor of Theology, Mark Medley:

“I’m disgusted and repulsed by the vile racism, white racist ideology, and domestic terrorism by white supremacists in Charlottesville. This is evil. I can’t be silent. I’m compelled to stand with and join movements of resistance and solidarity. I pray for victims of such hate and for protestors and leaders of movements of resistance and solidarity. I will confess and repent of my white privilege. I will pray for the heat of the Holy Spirit to enliven voice and action for resistance to racism and white supremacy and solidarity with people and movements for dignity and restorative justice. I pray for God’s peace and love.”
