Medley Named Interim Academic Dean

Dr. Mark Medley will begin serving as the Interim Academic Dean for the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky beginning September 1, 2023. He will also continue his role as Professor of Theology.

Dr. Medley has taught theology and ethics at Baptist Seminary of Kentucky since 2007. Prior to coming to BSK, he was Associate Professor of Christian Theology in the School of Theology at Campbellsville University (KY). A native of Graham, North Carolina, he has served churches in North Carolina and Kentucky in a variety of clergy and lay roles.

After graduating with a B.S., University of North Carolina, Dr. Medley earned his M.Div. and Ph.D., at Southern Seminary.

“Dr. Medley brings deep experience and strong commitment to his service at BSK,” explained President David Cassady. “As our school continues to grow and innovate, his leadership of our outstanding faculty will be a real asset.”

Presently, he is a licensed lay preacher in the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington. Dr. Medley is also a co-trainer of the cohort for the Lexington Diocese’s participation in the Lay Preaching Training Initiative, a program developed and nurtured by the Episcopal Preaching Foundation. 

He is a member of the National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion and the American Academy of Religion, as well as a member of the Editorial Board of Review and Expositor.

Dr. Medley and his wife, Maria, live in Georgetown, KY, and they have one grown son.
