Inscore Essick Named Director of Rural Ministry Program

BSK is collaborating with The Berry Center and rural church congregations to provide theological and ministry studies in, with, and for rural congregations and their ministers. Dr. John Inscore Essick, BSK’s Associate Professor of Church History, has been appointed the Director of the Rural Ministry Program. Dr. Inscore Essick is one of the co-pastors of Port Royal Baptist Church, a rural congregation in Port Royal, KY.

The Rural Ministry Program centers on an intensive internship in a rural congregation, as well as courses that introduce students to issues of agrarianism, economy, and land use. Students will consider rural places from biblical, historical, and theological perspectives. Students will also examine the daily, weekly, and seasonal rhythms of life and ministry in rural places and among rural people.

If you would like to help fund this new program, contact BSK today. The rural program will begin Fall 2019, and applications for admission are available now.
