What degree programs are available at BSK?

BSK offers a Master of Divinity degree. This is a 90 hour program that requires at least three years to complete. We offer an optional concentration in Pastoral Care and Counseling that prepares students to pursue licensure as a pastoral counselor with membership in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.

What are the requirements for admission to BSK?

Applicants for admission to the Master of Divinity program of BSK are required to have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the United States or proof of an equivalent degree. Admission is based on a total profile (undergraduate GPA, personal information submitted, letters of recommendation, etc.). A minimum grade point average of 2.5 overall and 3.0 in your major is normally required.

How do I apply for admission to BSK?

Please visit this page to apply online. You may also request a hard copy of the application by contacting the Office of Admissions at admissions@bsk.edu or 502-863-8301. Along with a completed application, you will be required to submit three letters of reference as well as two admissions essays. Transcripts from all institutions of higher education which you have attended will also be required and should be sent directly to Baptist Seminary of Kentucky at: Office of Admissions, Baptist Seminary of Kentucky, 400 E. What if I am not sure what type of ministry I want to enter after graduation?

Many seminary students are unsure about what type of ministry they will enter after graduation. One goal of a seminary education is to provide additional direction and discernment with regard to the call of God on each individual student’s life. Through the guidance of professors, administration and mentors in the field, classes and practical experience, BSK will assist each student in discerning her/his call and work to aid the student in following that call.

What is the cost of attending BSK?

Tuition is $375 per credit hour. The audit fee is $150 per hour of classroom instruction. For example, if a class meets three hours each week, the audit fee is $450.

Is financial aid available?

Financial aid is available through the Seminary. Financial aid will be provided based on need, strength of the applicant, and/or potential for ministry. Students of BSK do not qualify for Federal Aid.

How long does it take to complete the program?

At least three years are required to complete a Master of Divinity degree. Many BSK students work full-time in addition to attending Seminary and complete their studies in four to five years.

What is the denominational affiliation of BSK?

Baptist Seminary of Kentucky is a free-standing seminary founded on Baptist principles and has a partnership with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Students from a variety of denominational backgrounds attend BSK.

Is student housing available?

Student housing is not available on campus. The Office of Admissions will provide students with a list of local apartments along with their contact information, if needed.

What about student employment?

BSK offers assistance in placing students in ministry positions in the area. Students also work in a variety of non-ministry fields while completing their coursework.

Does BSK offer online or correspondence courses?

Because of the nature of the Master of Divinity program, the faculty and administration of BSK feel strongly that the classroom experience is important in receiving a holistic education. At this time, we are focusing our energy on ensuring that our on-site education is top quality and will consider online or correspondence courses at a later time.
