Erica Whitaker discusses “whiteness unseen” at BNG education conference on hidden racism

BSK students and alumni, Leigh Anne Armstrong, Haydn Primrose, Sara Herrington Jones, and Norman Sizemore, along with Erica Whitaker, Associate Director of BSK’s Institute for Black Church Studies, traveled to Colonial Williamsburg and Richmond, VA recently for an education conference. This conference, organized by Baptist News Global, was for the purpose of examining the often-overlooked racism in these places.

In their final session, Erica Whitaker spoke on “whiteness unseen,” emphasizing how whiteness often goes unacknowledged. Erica walked participants through the research she has done on this subject.
